US Special Envoy for Best Future Generations Charles J Harder will arrive in Dhaka on Saturday for a three-day visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation on education and child welfare.
During the visit, he will meet senior government officials and key stakeholders to expand partnerships supporting Bangladesh’s next generation, according to a media note issued by the US Embassy in Dhaka.
The US Department of State said the envoy’s office focuses on protecting and promoting the well-being of children aged between 0 and 17 worldwide.
His engagements will prioritise areas such as food security, education, healthcare, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), as well as efforts to end child labour, trafficking, and recruitment into gangs and armed conflict.
The envoy also engages regularly with representatives of foundations, corporations, non-profit and faith-based organisations, along with international bodies, to develop “creative and common-sense solutions” to challenges affecting children, their families and communities.
