The United States has congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as Bangladesh’s 23rd president, expressing its readiness to work with him to further strengthen bilateral relations.
“The United States looks forward to working with President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and the Government of Bangladesh to further strengthen our bilateral partnership,” the US Embassy in Dhaka said in a message today.
Mirza Fakhrul was elected President of Bangladesh on August 20.
He took the oath of office on Friday.
