Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin has stated that maintaining an uninterrupted supply of goods is essential for effective market management.
He made the remark as the chief guest at the concluding session of the two-day international conference on “Future of Business: Innovation, Technology, and Sustainable Development,” organized by the Bureau of Business Research of Chattogram University.
The conference was held at Hotel Radisson Blu in Dhaka on Friday, with the event details shared in a press release from the Press Information Department (PID) on Saturday.
Bashir credited the government’s proactive efforts during the last Ramadan, which helped maintain a stable supply chain and kept prices of essential items under control.
The commerce adviser also addressed the issue of raw material shortages, acknowledging the challenge but suggesting that students could play a key role in overcoming it by gaining agriculture-related knowledge, which would contribute to enhanced production capabilities.
Reflecting on the aftermath of the mass uprising, Bashir shared that bringing the market back to normalcy had posed significant challenges, particularly with many key players of the so-called syndicates fleeing the country.
“Through collective effort, we managed to restore the situation,” he said, adding, “If future governments can continue managing the market democratically and implement neutral reforms, the market system will be more resilient, ensuring fair resource distribution.”
The event was also attended by Chattogram University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Yeahia Akhter, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Md Kamal Uddin, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration Professor Dr Mohammad Taiyub Chowdhury, University Grants Commission Member Professor Mohammad Ayub Islam, and Chairman of Sonali Bank PLC Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury.
In the concluding segment, the commerce adviser presented crests to individuals and institutions for their exceptional contributions to the business and commerce sectors.
