Nearly a decade has passed since Naughty Dog released ‘Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’, leaving fans of the action-adventure franchise eager for a fifth instalment.
Following Nathan Drake on his quest for lost treasure alongside journalist Elena Fisher and mentor Victor Sullivan, the series became a household name after the release of ‘Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune’ in 2007, followed by ‘Among Thieves’ in 2009 and ‘Drake’s Deception’ in 2011.
According to a recent episode of the ‘Insider Gaming’ podcast, a potential ‘Uncharted 5’ was in the works before the Covid-19 pandemic but may have been cancelled amid production challenges. This revelation has sparked widespread discussion online, with fans expressing both disappointment and understanding of Naughty Dog’s shifting priorities.
Some Reddit users noted that the studio has a history of shelving flagship titles when necessary, citing ‘Crash Bandicoot’ and ‘Jak and Daxter’ as examples. Others suggested the focus has shifted to new projects, including the upcoming ‘IP Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’ and rumours of ‘The Last of Us Part III’.
