Two teenagers riding a motorcycle were killed in a Ukrainian drone attack in Russia’s Belgorod region, the local governor said on Friday.

Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said the drone struck the motorcycle in the village of Volchya Alexandrovka, killing the youths aged 18 and 15 at the scene.

Russia has carried out frequent strikes across Ukraine since launching its offensive in 2022, the deadliest conflict in Europe since World War II, often targeting infrastructure.

Kyiv says its drone operations are mainly aimed at Russian energy facilities, but Moscow has repeatedly accused Ukraine of attacks that have killed civilians.

Efforts to broker a ceasefire have slowed, with US-mediated talks losing momentum following the Middle East conflict that began with US-Israeli strikes on Iran in late February.
