United International University held a full-day training programme on outcome-based education for its School of Science and Engineering, aiming to strengthen faculty capacity to meet international accreditation standards and adopt more student-centred teaching.
The sessions covered course and programme outcomes, complex engineering problem-solving, assessment methods and the use of UCAM, the university’s academic management system.
Trainers included senior UIU faculty members Hasan Sarwar, dean of the School of Science and Engineering, AKM Muzahidul Islam of computer science, Kaled Masukur Rahman, head of electrical and electronic engineering, and Sadid Muneer, associate professor in the same department.
Tarek Uddin of the Islamic University of Technology delivered the keynote, outlining the shift from content-driven instruction to performance-based learning and stressing the relevance of outcome-based education to standards such as the Washington Accord and BAETE accreditation.
Mofijul Hoq Masum, director of the university’s quality assurance office, said the programme reflects UIU’s commitment to continuous improvement in teaching and curriculum design.
Faculty members exchanged experiences throughout the day, which the university said would support wider adoption of outcome-based practices across engineering disciplines.
