The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection fined two illegal saline factories Tk45,000 during separate drives in Pabna on Tuesday.
One unauthorised factory was also sealed during the operation.
The drives were conducted at ST Food and Beverage in the Banglabazar area of Pabna Sadar upazila and Pabna Food and Beverage in the municipality area around noon.
Mahmud Hasan Rony, assistant director of the district office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, said the two factories had long been producing saline illegally.
During the drives, the owners of the factories failed to show valid documents. The authorities then fined the two establishments a total of Tk45,000.
The saline produced by the factories was also destroyed by burning, he said.
Earlier in the morning, a drive was conducted at another saline manufacturing factory named Unisal Food Beverage in the Banglabazar area.
The factory was sealed for producing and selling saline illegally, the official added.
