Police have arrested two men with a single‑barrel gun during a drive in the Ghonar Para area of Cox’s Bazar town late Sunday.
The arrests were made around 11:30pm in front of Alamgir Tower, said Sheikh Mohammad Ali, officer‑in‑charge of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station.
The arrestees were Md Faisal, 45, of Mohajer Para, and Md Rubel, 30, of South Ghonar Para under Cox’s Bazar Municipality.
Both are also accused in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act on 29 July 2021.
Acting on a tip‑off, a team from Cox’s Bazar Town Police Outpost led by ASI Sayeed Hasan conducted the operation and recovered the firearm from their possession.
“The weapon has been seized, and legal action is underway,” OC Ali said.
