Turkish firm eyes ground handling at HSIA

Turkish company Celebi Aviation Holding has expressed interest in providing ground handling services at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), as discussions on bolstering aviation cooperation between Bangladesh and Turkey gained momentum on Sunday.

The matter was discussed during a courtesy meeting between Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam and Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen at the minister’s office in the Bangladesh Secretariat in Dhaka. Civil Aviation and Tourism State Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat was also in attendance.

According to a press release, the ambassador informed the minister that Celebi Aviation Holding is keen to enter ground handling operations at HSIA, which is one of the country’s busiest aviation hubs.

The meeting also focused on further strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Turkey, with a particular emphasis on cooperation in the tourism sector. Both sides discussed opportunities for Turkish support in developing the tourism industry of Bangladesh and expanding collaboration in civil aviation services.

The minister and the state minister expressed their commitment to working closely with Turkey to deepen cooperation in these sectors, the ministry stated.
