Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ramis Sen on Wednesday paid a courtesy call on Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir and discussed ways to expand bilateral trade, increase investment, and strengthen economic cooperation.
The meeting was held at the Commerce Minister’s office at the Secretariat in Dhaka.
During the discussions, both sides explored opportunities to further enhance trade and investment ties between Bangladesh and Türkiye.
The commerce minister said there is significant scope to expand economic cooperation by building on the existing friendly relations between the two countries.
He particularly highlighted potential joint ventures in the readymade garments, textiles, agro-based industries and light engineering sectors.
The minister also said Turkish investors could benefit from investing in Bangladesh’s leather and jute industries, citing comparatively low production costs and favorable investment conditions.
Ambassador Ramis Sen praised Bangladesh’s rapidly growing economy and said its skilled workforce makes it an attractive destination for Turkish investors. He also appreciated Bangladesh’s eco-friendly jute products, noting their demand in Türkiye.
At the outset of the meeting, the envoy congratulated the commerce minister on assuming office following his electoral victory.
Senior officials, including Additional Secretary (Export) at the Ministry of Commerce Md Abdur Rahim Khan, were also present.
