Channel i’s flagship talk show Tritiyo Matra achieved a remarkable milestone by broadcasting its 8,000th episode, continuing an unbroken run since July 2003 under the anchoring of Zillur Rahman.
Over more than two decades, the nightly programme has become a trusted platform for discussion on politics, society, and governance in Bangladesh.
Marking the occasion, Zillur Rahman wrote: 8,000 episodes! More than just a talk show—Tritiyo Matra has been a journey, a dialogue, and a shared trust… This milestone belongs to you—our audience, our guests, our colleagues, our critics, and our well-wishers. 8,000 is not the end—it’s a new beginning.
Prof. Syed Anwar Hossain, journalist Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, and civil society leader Badiul Alam Majumdar were guests on the 8,000th episode, which aired on Friday (June 27).

Tritiyo Matra’s longevity puts it among the world’s longest-running talk shows with a single presenter.
According to Guinness World Records, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson aired more than 6,000 episodes over 30 years, while Larry King Live reached over 6,000 episodes across 25 years.
Although Tritiyo Matra has not formally sought Guinness World Record certification, its 8,000 episodes hosted continuously by Zillur Rahman may surpass those historic benchmarks, making it one of the most enduring single-host talk shows worldwide.
Airing every night on Channel i, the programme has been praised for welcoming diverse voices and offering a consistent forum for political debate and social commentary.
As Rahman noted, the journey continues: There’s still so much more to discuss, to question, and to understand.
