The Dhaka-bound Brahmaputra Express train has derailed in Mymensingh after one of its coaches went off the tracks, disrupting rail communication on the Mymensingh–Jamalpur route.
Train movement on the route has been fully suspended, causing suffering to passengers.
The incident took place on Wednesday morning in the Sankipara area of Mymensingh.
Railway and local sources said the intercity Brahmaputra Express, which departed from Jamalpur for Dhaka, derailed after reaching Sankipara in the morning.
Following the accident, railway authorities immediately suspended train services on the route for safety reasons. As a result, direct rail communication between Mymensingh and Jamalpur has been completely cut off for now.
Railway officials rushed to the spot after receiving information and began monitoring the situation. Steps have already been taken to recover the derailed coach and restore the track.
