Yash’s ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’ has made a strong digital debut, with its multilingual trailer crossing 29 million combined views within nine hours of release. The Hindi version is leading the race.
The Indian Express reported that the Hindi trailer alone drew around 14 million views in nine hours. The Kannada version recorded around 5 million, followed by Telugu with 4.5 million, Tamil with 4 million and Malayalam with 1.9 million.
The trailer also posted strong numbers in its opening hour. Hindi crossed 1.2 million views, while Kannada passed 774,000. Telugu recorded more than 378,000, Tamil reached 268,000 and Malayalam stood at around 90,000.
Fans and media have responded enthusiastically to the trailer, with Yash’s intense appearance and the film’s stylised action sequences emerging as major talking points. Nayanthara, Kiara Advani and Huma Qureshi have also drawn attention for their roles.
The response, however, has not been entirely uniform. Some social media users felt the Kannada version made a stronger impact than the Hindi trailer. The Hindi dubbing and lip-sync also drew criticism.
At the trailer launch, Kiara said the role of Nadia could mark a new phase in her career. “I truly believe that Geetu and Yash manifested for me to be Nadia in this film. They saw it in me and believed I was capable of this much before I knew that fearless leap I was ready to take as an actor,” she said.
Nayanthara praised Kiara’s performance, calling ‘Toxic’ one of the best films of her career and saying she looked “absolutely stunning” in it.
Yash said the film was bigger than his own stardom. “This movie is not Yash’s film. This is an Indian film,” he said, adding that the team had set aside personal insecurities and egos with one goal — to put Indian cinema on the global map.
Directed by Geetu Mohandas, ‘Toxic’ stars Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth. Akshay Oberoi, Sudev Nair and Amit Tiwari also feature.
The film is scheduled to hit theatres on 26 August 2026.
