The measles outbreak in the country continues to claim lives, with four more deaths from suspected measles or measles-like symptoms recorded in the 24 hours ending at 8am on Friday.
According to a press release from the integrated control centre of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 869 new suspected measles cases were identified across the country during this 24-hour period. Among these, 107 cases were confirmed as measles.
Data from Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room reveals that since 15 March 2026, the total number of suspected measles patients has reached 97,522. Of these, 11,549 patients have been laboratory-confirmed as having the disease.
The four deaths reported in the last 24 hours were all suspected measles patients. A divisional analysis shows one death each in Dhaka, Sylhet, Chattogram, and Mymensingh divisions. Specifically, these fatalities were recorded in the districts of Gazipur, Sunamganj, Noakhali, and Mymensingh.
From 15 March to 26 June 2026, the nationwide death toll from suspected measles stands at 609, while 93 individuals have died from confirmed measles.
Divisional statistics for the last 24 hours show that Dhaka division reported the highest number of new suspected cases with 366 infections and one death.
Other divisions reported the following numbers of suspected cases: Chattogram (185), Barishal (118), Rajshahi (80), Sylhet (65 cases, one death), Khulna (45), Mymensingh (39 cases, one death), and Rangpur (11).
The DGHS further informed that 786 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours, while 825 patients were discharged after recovery.
Since 15 March, the cumulative number of suspected measles patients hospitalised has reached 81,283. Of them, 77,613 patients have been discharged from hospitals to date.
