Joint forces on Thursday arrested a top-listed terrorist, Hasan Tarek, alias Chita, from Latifpur village in Chandraganj upazila, Lakshmipur, seizing a foreign pistol, five rounds of ammunition, and a magazine in the operation.
Police said Hasan Tarek is a wanted criminal and a key associate of local notorious gangster Chhoto Kausar. He is also named in multiple criminal cases.
A joint forces team of police and army carried out the operation in the evening under the supervision of Camp Commander Major Md Rahat Khan.
While Hasan Tarek was captured, his accomplices managed to flee the scene.
The arrested individual has been handed over to Chandraganj Police Station for legal proceedings.
Authorities emphasised that the operation demonstrates their commitment to cracking down on organised crime in the district.
