Police have arrested a man accused in multiple cases with firearms and ammunition in Hathazari, Chattogram.
The arrestee is Osman Gani alias Mona, 35, said Hathazari Police Station Officer‑in‑Charge Md Zahidur Rahman.
Osman was detained Sunday afternoon during a raid at a five‑storey building in Chikondondi union. He faces at least 18 cases, including murder, robbery, narcotics, and arms charges.
Acting on a tip‑off, police seized a foreign‑made 7.65‑bore pistol with magazine, three single‑barrel shotguns, 11 pistol rounds, rifle ammunition, 17 shotgun cartridges, sharp weapons, Tk 51,000 in cash, and several mobile phones.
During initial interrogation, Osman admitted involvement in illegal arms trading and supplying weapons for criminal activities.
Investigators said they also obtained information linking two fugitives, Hridoy, 30, and Raju, 32, to his network.
A case under the Arms Act has been filed against Osman with Hathazari Model Police Station, while details of his previous cases are being verified.
OC Zahidur said such drives will continue to recover illegal arms and curb criminal activities.
