Former Bangladesh striker Toklis Ahmed has publicly called out national team captain Jamal Bhuyan, urging him to show greater respect towards his teammates following comments made on a recent podcast.

In the podcast, Jamal reflected on the early stages of his international career, claiming that as a Denmark-based footballer, some of his teammates had deliberately avoided passing to him when he first joined the national side.

The remarks drew a sharp response from London-based former forward Toklis Ahmed, who took to social media to address the captain directly.

“Please maintain respect towards your teammates, Mr Jamal Bhuyan,” he wrote. “When we were in the national team together, you mentioned that some players were not passing to you. It is important to avoid a mindset of blaming others. Your teammates supported you, and that support has played a significant role in your success at the international level.”

Ahmed did not stop there, urging the captain to focus on his own game rather than pointing fingers at those around him.

“Try to bring some change in your mentality, focus on your own performances on the pitch, and show respect to those around you. Rather than blaming others, concentrate on improving yourself.”

The exchange has sparked debate within Bangladeshi football circles, with Jamal’s podcast comments reigniting old tensions around the culture and unity within the national squad.
