The Bangladesh national women’s cricket team is currently in Sri Lanka to participate in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. Ahead of their opening match against Pakistan on Thursday, it has emerged that the team’s head coach, Sarwar Imran, has suffered a mild stroke.
According to sources at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the experienced coach began to feel unwell on Sunday and was immediately taken to hospital. Following medical tests, doctors confirmed he had suffered a mild stroke. He is currently in a stable condition and remains under medical supervision at the hospital.
BCB officials stated that Imran is being closely monitored by doctors. Should his condition worsen or if he wishes to return home, the board will make arrangements to bring him back to Bangladesh for further treatment.
Sarwar Imran was appointed head coach of the national women’s team in February. Under his guidance, Bangladesh successfully navigated the World Cup qualifying stage earlier this year, eliminating the West Indies to secure a place in the main tournament for the second consecutive time.
