Three motorcyclists were killed and two others critically injured in two separate road accidents in Rajbari on Sunday.
According to witnesses, around 10:30pm on Sunday, two speeding motorcycles heading from Kalukhali towards Pangsha collided near Bangladesh Hat area on the Rajbari–Kushtia regional highway.
Two riders Arif, 22, and Swadhin, 17 died on the spot, while another, Shaon, 22, was seriously injured and admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Arif was the son of Bakkar of Ghikmala village in Mrigi union of Kalukhali upazila, while Swadhin was the son of Asit of Moishala Palpara village in Pangsha upazila. Injured Shaon is the son of late Mojibur Rahman of the same village.
Earlier on Sunday, another motorcyclist, Motiar Rahman, was killed after being hit by a shallow-engine-driven van (locally known as bhotvoti) in Shalmara area of Baliakandi upazila. His wife, Rikta Begum, was critically injured and is now undergoing treatment at Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Following the incident, agitated locals set the van on fire.
