BCB president Tamim Iqbal has said the Bangladesh Premier League should not continue in an improper way while major problems remain unsolved.
Speaking to the media on Thursday at the Sher e Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Tamim said the tournament needs proper reform before it can move forward.
“There is no point in organizing the BPL in a patchwork manner.”
He said several serious issues are still hurting the league. These include franchise problems, failure to collect bank guarantees properly, unpaid player salaries, irregularities, and fixing concerns.
Tamim made it clear that he does not want the BPL to be staged properly until these core problems are fixed.
“I do not want to stage the BPL properly until these major issues are resolved.”
He also said solving these matters will remain a priority if he returns in the future.
“If elected again, I will address these issues.”
Tamim also revealed that the current board has found proof against the previous board led by Aminul Islam Bulbul.
According to him, two franchises were handed teams without any guarantee money being collected. The teams were Noakhali Express and Sylhet Strikers, as he himself revealed.
His comments have again raised questions about how the BPL has been run in recent years. They also point to possible big changes before the tournament can regain trust.
