An incident of theft occurred at the village home of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, who was shot and is now on life support.
The incident took place on Friday night in Khasmahal village in Nalchity of Jhalakathi. Osman Hadi’s cousin Sirajul Islam confirmed the matter.
He said, “Taking advantage of the house being empty, thieves broke a window and entered the house. We have not yet been able to ascertain what amount of goods has been taken.”
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Nalchity Police Station, Ariful Alam, said, “We have arrived at the scene. Those involved will be brought under the law.”
Around 2:15pm on Friday, two persons riding a motorbike shot Osman Hadi, also a prospective independent candidate for Dhaka‑8.
He was later rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition. At one point, following the family’s wishes, he was transferred to Evercare Hospital in the capital. He is currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) there.
Meanwhile, upon hearing the news of him being shot, family members left for Dhaka that same afternoon.
