The message that sparked one of entertainment’s most talked-about love stories has finally come to light.
According to Vogue India, Nick Jonas revealed the first direct message he sent to Priyanka Chopra during the latest episode of the Hey Jonas! podcast, where the actor made her debut as a guest.
Asked by his brothers how their relationship began, Nick recalled spotting Priyanka on a billboard promoting Quantico. He then searched for her on Twitter to see whether she followed him. After convincing himself that she did — a claim Priyanka playfully disputed — he decided to send her a message.
“Hello. I’ve heard from a few people that we should meet. I have to agree with these people. Are you in LA anytime soon?” Nick wrote.
Priyanka replied: “Hey… Graham’s told me so much about you. Let’s text. More private. My team can access this.”
The exchange eventually led to a relationship, and the couple have now been married for eight years.
The story has reignited discussions about first impressions in the age of social media, where many people struggle to strike the right balance when making the first move online. Nick’s straightforward and respectful message has drawn praise for its simplicity, standing in contrast to the overly confident or clichéd opening messages often criticised on dating apps.
The conversation also highlighted how celebrity status offers no guarantee of success in direct messages.
