Pavel Durov, founder and CEO of Telegram, has announced he will divide his $13.9 billion fortune equally among his “over 100 children” – including those conceived solely through his sperm donations.
In an interview with French magazine Le Point, the Russian-born tech entrepreneur stated: “They are all my children with equal rights. I don’t want them fighting over this wealth after my death.”
While Durov is officially recognised as father to six children from three partners, he revealed he began sperm donations at a clinic nearly 15 years ago to help a friend. Clinic records show his donations have resulted in over 100 children across 12 countries.
“I’ve already prepared my will,” Durov said, adding: “But none of my children can access any portion before turning 30. I want them to build their own paths like ordinary people – creating something meaningful rather than relying on bank balances.”
Responding to criminal charges against him in France, he dismissed them as “baseless and politically motivated,” asserting: “I’ve done nothing wrong.”
With over 1 billion monthly active users, Telegram ranks among the world’s most popular messaging apps, renowned for its privacy features and serving as an alternative communication platform in many countries.
Explaining his stance, Durov said: “I’ve always stood for freedom. And taking pro-freedom positions creates enemies – including some powerful states.”
Anticipating future risks, he confirmed preparing his will in advance as a precautionary measure.
