Ganosamhati Andolon-nominated Dhaka-12 candidate Taslima Akhter said incidents of intimidation and violations of the electoral code of conduct were increasing as the 13th national election approaches.
She said neither muscle power nor money would prevent voters from making the right choice.
She made the remarks during a mass contact programme in the Eskaton, Banglamotor and AG Church areas on Sunday, expressing confidence that Dhaka-12 voters would elect a worthy representative to parliament by voting for the “Mathal” symbol.
She said it was the responsibility of all concerned to ensure that voters could exercise their franchise freely and without any hindrance.
The late-stage campaign, held ahead of the official deadline for electioneering, was joined by professionals, organisers of the Ganosamhati Andolon Dhaka city unit and representatives of civil society.
Local voters, according to organisers, praised her campaign approach and manifesto, saying they trusted she would work to implement her commitments if elected.
Her election office said Taslima Akhter would carry out final-stage mass contact across all six wards of the Dhaka-12 constituency on Monday, the final day of formal campaigning.
