BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has directed party leaders, activists, and supporters to guard polling centers and ballot boxes until the conclusion of vote counting to prevent any conspiracies or irregularities.
Speaking at an election rally at the Chauddagram School Field on Sunday at 9pm, the BNP chairman instructed supporters to perform Tahajjud prayers on election day and proceed to their respective polling centers to offer Fajr prayers in congregation.
He emphasised that they must remain vigilant in front of the centers to ensure no one can manipulate the results while they vote for the “Sheaf of Paddy.”
When asked if they agreed with this directive, the gathered crowd responded in unison, to which Tarique replied, “Alhamdulillah.”
Governance plans and experience
Addressing allegations that the BNP is “deceiving” the public, Tarique questioned what the party would gain from such deception when they ultimately return to the people for support.
He asserted that the BNP is currently the only political party with the experience of governing the country multiple times and understands how to implement development plans step-by-step.
“If we can form the government with the people’s vote, we will execute our work one-two-three,” he stated.
Focus on Chauddagram
Terming Chauddagram a “granary area,” Tarique promised that a BNP-led government would provide “farmer cards” for marginal and small-scale farmers and provide government honorariums for mosque and madrasa Imams and Moazzins, alongside creating additional employment opportunities.
He also expressed his intention to return to Chauddagram to undertake canal digging projects.
The Cumilla-11 (Chauddagram) seat is considered highly significant. The BNP candidate for this constituency is Kamrul Huda, while the Jamaat-e-Islami candidate is the party’s Nayeb-e-Amir, Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher.
Despite suffering from a fever and cold, Tarique addressed the crowd while wearing a red cap, asking for their attention as he was struggling to speak loudly.
The rally ground was filled to capacity before Maghrib prayers as activists arrived in small processions from surrounding villages.
This rally was part of the second day of Tarique’s election campaign, which saw him speaking at various locations including the Chattogram Pologround, Feni Pilot School Field, Suagazi Digbazi Field, Daudkandi Central Eidgah Maidan, and Narayanganj Balur Math.
During these rallies, he has been presenting a blueprint of the BNP’s plans for governance and urging voters to ensure victory for “Sheaf of Paddy” candidates.
