Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the graves of his father, former president Ziaur Rahman, and his mother, former prime minister Khaleda Zia at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Saturday.
Tarique was accompanied by his wife Zubaida Rahman, daughter Zaima Rahman, Syeda Shameela Rahman, wife of his late brother Arafat Rahman Koko, her two daughters – Zahia Rahman and Zafia Rahman.
Standing beside the graves with his family members, Tarique recited Surah Al-Fatiha and offered munajat seeking eternal peace for their souls.
He later placed a wreath at the graves on behalf of BNP as the party’s chairman.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, AZM Zahid Hossain, Adviser Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, State Minister Mir Shahe Alam, Defense Adviser ATM Shamsul Islam and other party leaders were present.
Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said after the visit, Tarique returned to his residence in Gulshan with his family members.
