Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Friday expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and widespread destruction caused by the powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela.
In a post on Facebook, the Tarique said Bangladesh was deeply saddened by the disaster.
“We are gravely saddened by the earthquakes that have struck Venezuela, causing tragic loss of so many lives and so much destruction,” he wrote.
On behalf of the people of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman extended his deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster.
“We also pray for the swift recovery of every individual injured, and stand in solidarity with the people of Venezuela during this difficult time,” he said.
The prime minister also conveyed Bangladesh’s full support to the people affected by the earthquakes and wished the government of Venezuela strength, resilience and healing as it responds to the aftermath of the disaster.
According to officials, twin earthquakes struck Venezuela on Wednesday evening, killing around 235 people and injuring at least 4,300 others.
