The voice of legendary singer Subir Nandi is set to return in a new song, a development likely to stir deep emotion among his countless admirers. Seven years after the artist’s death, an unreleased song recorded in his voice is finally set for release.
Titled ‘Amar Ayu Niye Bacho’, the song features lyrics by Zahid Akbar, with tune and music composed by Tanvir Tarek.
The sad-romantic track will be released on the YouTube channel ‘Sounds of Tanvir’. It will also be available across more than 50 international digital platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify.
Lyricist Zahid Akbar said working with Tanvir Tarek’s compositions always brings a sense of comfort. “I didn’t even know this song had been recorded in Subir da’s voice. Hearing my own lyrics in his voice after all these years has truly overwhelmed me. I believe listeners will also feel the emotion of the song again and again.”
Music director Tanvir Tarek described the project as one of the most precious memories of his life. “Every song we worked on with Subir da received special attention, particularly to acoustic instruments.
Renowned subcontinental artist Rahul Mukhopadhyay played the sitar for this track. Subir da’s voice represents depth of melody. Even in the age of reels and TikTok, this song is for those who still want to lose themselves in music.”
The song was recorded at Kolahol Studio in Dhaka and Vibration Studio in Kolkata. Mixing and mastering were completed at TFP Studio in Las Vegas.
Tanvir Tarek added that the lyric video was released on February 6 at 10:00 pm during a live programme on Jamuna TV. The full music video is scheduled for release this coming Eid-ul-Fitr.
Subir Nandi passed away on May 7, 2019, at the age of 65. Over a musical career spanning more than four decades, he recorded more than 2,500 songs. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to music, he won the National Film Award five times and was honoured with the Ekushey Padak.
