Mitchell Starc has been cleared to return to the Indian Premier League (IPL ) after missing the first half of the season due to injury concerns, Cricket Australia confirmed on Thursday.
The left-arm fast bowler had been sidelined while recovering from elbow and shoulder issues but is now set to join Delhi Capitals for the remainder of the season.
Although the exact date of his arrival has not been confirmed, Cricket Australia indicated that Starc is expected to feature in Delhi’s fixture against Rajasthan Royals on 1 May 2026. He will then remain available for the rest of the league stage and potentially the playoffs, which conclude on 31 May 2026.
Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, currently sit fifth in the 10-team standings and will be hoping Starc’s return strengthens their push for qualification.
Starc is one of several high-profile Australian players who missed the early stages of the IPL due to injury rehabilitation and workload management. Pat Cummins (Sunrisers Hyderabad) and Josh Hazlewood (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) were also absent at the start of the tournament.
Hazlewood has already returned to action for Bengaluru, while Cummins is expected to be back in time to lead Hyderabad in the coming days.
