The Speaker of the National Parliament has formed a five-member high-powered probe committee to verify the truth of a media report titled “Plunder in Parliamentary Procurement”.
According to a press release signed by Md Monir Hossain, Director of the Public Relations Sub-Division-1 of the Parliament Secretariat, the committee has been asked to submit its investigation report within seven working days.
The release stated that the news report was published on 19 April. As it came to the attention of the highest authority of Parliament, the Speaker formed the committee on Tuesday.
The committee is composed of ABM Ashraf Uddin (Nizan), Whip and Lakshmipur-4 lawmaker — Convener, Lutfullahil Majed, Mymensingh-8 lawmaker, Md Saiful Alam, Dhaka-12 lawmaker, Hammam Qader Chowdhury, Chattogram, and Md Abul Hasnat, Cumilla-4 lawmaker.
The committee has been directed to conduct an on-the-ground investigation into the matter and submit its report within seven days of its formation, the release added.
