Stage, television and film actor Soron Saha has recently begun work on acclaimed filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel’s new film, Sojan Badiar Ghat.
Soron had long dreamed of working in a film directed by Mokammel. He said that dream has finally come true through his role in Sojan Badiar Ghat, in which he is playing an important character.
The actor said he was highly excited to have the opportunity to work with Mokammel.
Tanvir Mokammel has adapted the screenplay from rural poet Jasimuddin’s literary work Sojan Badiar Ghat. Uttam Guha is serving as the film’s art director.
“It is a great privilege for me to have the opportunity to act in a film by the respected Tanvir Mokammel,” Smaran Saha said.
“He is a renowned, experienced and talented filmmaker of this country. It can be said that each of his films has received great acclaim for different reasons. His films have also received many honours at home and abroad.”
Soron said he had dreamed of acting in Mokammel’s film for a long time.
“I had long cherished the dream of acting in one of his films. Finally, that dream has come true through this film,” he said.
“The work on the final schedule will begin within the next few days. My work on the film will also be completed during the final schedule.”
He expressed his sincere gratitude to the filmmaker and wished him good health and well-being.
Meanwhile, Soron Saha was recently elected general secretary of the Savar Combined Cultural Alliance for the fourth time.
A 23-member executive committee, including Soron, has been elected for the next three years.
Soron said cultural activists in Savar have been campaigning for the past 30 years to meet their long-standing demand for a modern auditorium in the area.
“Cultural activists in Savar have been demanding a modern auditorium for three decades,” he said.
According to Soron, no government has taken steps to establish a modern auditorium for artistes in Savar even 55 years after the country’s independence.
