A mobile court of the Department of Environment (DoE) has fined six unauthorised brick kilns a total of Tk19.5 lakh in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj and demolished two of them for illegally producing bricks.
The drive was conducted on Tuesday by a mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Sajjad Zahid Ratul.
During the operation, the owner of Messrs Barna Bricks was fined Tk2 lakh and the owner of Messrs Prottay Bricks Tk3.5 lakh.
The owner of Messrs ADB Bricks and the owner of Messrs Lamia Bricks were each fined Tk3 lakh.
Meanwhile, the owner of Messrs Mama-Bhagne Bricks was fined Tk5 lakh and the owner of Messrs RFB Bricks Tk3 lakh.
Assistant Director Department of Environment Tuhin Alam, Prosecutor Shahin Alam and members of Rapid Action Battalion, police and Ansar Battalion were present during the operation.
Officials said such drives against illegal brick kilns will continue.
