Popular singer-composer Tausif Ahmed is recovering from a serious health scare after suffering a stroke late last month. On December 29, the singer suddenly lost consciousness at his home, fell, and sustained a severe head injury that required 27 stitches. Doctors later confirmed that a stroke caused the fall.
After receiving treatment in the hospital for three consecutive days, Tausif returned home on Thursday (1 January) in a somewhat improved condition. However, alongside his physical recovery, the artist says he is now dealing with significant mental distress. Since news of his illness became public, a section of social media users has been spreading negative comments, insults and false rumours online.
Expressing strong anger over the mockery of his illness and the circulation of misleading information involving his family, Tausif said he is no longer willing to take the matter lightly and is considering legal action under the Cyber Security Act.
In a lengthy Facebook post, he wrote: “Some people have made negative comments about my stroke. While it does not affect me personally, I am considering filing a case against them under the Cyber Security Act for cyberbullying, defamation and spreading false information.”
Frustrated by what he described as growing social intolerance, the singer added: “I see many Facebook users around us becoming increasingly intolerant. They are forgetting what is appropriate to say and where. Instead of expressing sympathy, people are reacting with excitement to news of someone’s illness. False information has even been spread about me and my family, which I consider a direct offence.”
Making an emotional appeal, Tausif said, “Those who have known me for a long time know what kind of person I am. Please do not belittle my family.”
Addressing fans and well-wishers, he reflected on his career and achievements: “I may not have become a major star, but my greatest achievement is that people still listen to my songs released a decade and a half ago, and will continue to do so. Please do not spread rumours about me without knowing the truth.”
Tausif has been dealing with multiple health complications for some time. He suffered his first heart attack in April 2022, followed by a second in October 2024. On medical advice, he is currently on complete rest.
The singer rose to prominence in 2007 with the album ‘Obhipray’ and is known for popular songs such as ‘Dure Kothao Achi Bose’, ‘Brishti Jhore Jay’, ‘Moner Angina’ and ‘Jaan Pakhi’.
