Bangladesh’s leading retail chain Shwapno has undertaken a winter support initiative to provide temporary shelter, meals and basic relief to homeless and vulnerable people, as harsh weather conditions intensify across the country.
Under the initiative, Shwapno is offering overnight accommodation and food for homeless individuals at selected outlets, recognising that people who have lost their homes endure the most severe hardships during winter nights.
To protect them from extreme cold, the company has arranged safe nighttime shelter facilities, Shwapno said in a press release.
Several outlets outside the capital have already been brought under the programme, where tents have been set up adjacent to stores to provide protection for people living under the open sky.
The initiative has received appreciation from various quarters for its humanitarian approach.
In addition to temporary shelter, Shwapno is distributing blankets and food among the beneficiaries as part of the winter support effort.
The company said the facilities will remain in place throughout the winter season at selected locations, including Palbari in Jashore, Chuadanga College Road and Khulshi in Chattogram, ensuring continued support for homeless people during the cold spell.
Shwapno said the initiative reflects its commitment to standing beside vulnerable communities during extreme weather conditions and providing practical support when it is needed most.
