Dhallywood megastar Shakib Khan is currently filming key action scenes for his upcoming Eid release, ‘Prince: Once Upon a Time in Dhaka’, in Kolkata, produced by Shirin Sultana under the banner of Creative Land Films and is described as a blend of action, romance and urban drama.
The actor arrived in the Indian city after completing an earlier schedule in Sri Lanka, with production now moving across several prominent locations.
Filming has taken place at Alipur Jail, Howrah and Boubazar, drawing attention from curious onlookers. Khan was recently spotted riding a motorbike through the narrow streets of Boubazar, sporting a red-tinted hairstyle, a trimmed beard and a floral shirt layered beneath an open denim jacket. Passersby paused to watch as cameras tracked the sequence through the busy neighbourhood.
The film features a cross-border ensemble cast, including Tasnia Farin, Jyotirmoyee Kundu, Loknath Dey, Paean Sarkar and Mrityunjoy Bhattacharya.
Directed by Abu Hayat Mahmud, the Kolkata schedule began in the second week of February, with the team expected to move to Hyderabad for the next phase of shooting.
Several action sequences were filmed at a long-abandoned factory in Howrah from 9 February. According to sources, Khan plays a character inspired by the 1990s Bangladeshi underworld figure known as Kala Jahangir, charting the journey of a man who transforms from a law-abiding citizen into a feared gangster.
On February 11, the crew filmed at Madhob Bhavan in central Boubazar. The weathered pale yellow building provided a striking backdrop for a bike stunt that drew a small crowd. Loknath Dey, who previously appeared alongside Khan in Toofan, portrays the protagonist’s trusted associate.
Cinematography is handled by Bollywood professionals Amit Roy and Shaaillesh Awasthi, both known for their work on major projects including ‘Animal’ and high-profile Kolkata productions backed by Shrikant Mohta and Ashok Dhankar.
Prince is shaping up to be one of the largest Bangladeshi productions to shoot extensively in Kolkata, combining cross-border talent and striking city locations to deliver a spectacle aimed at Eid audiences.
