The International League T20 (ILT20) auction on Wednesday saw three Bangladesh stars secure franchise contracts, with Shakib Al Hasan, Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman all set to feature in the tournament.
Shakib, initially unsold in the first round, was picked up at the second call by MI Emirates for 40,000 US dollars. The all-rounder will be making his debut in the competition. Confirming the move on his official Facebook page, Shakib wrote: “I am all set to make my debut in the ILt20 with the @MiEmirates! Could not have been a more proud moment for me to become a part of the #MI Family.”
Taskin Ahmed went to Sharjah Warriors for 80,000 US dollars, twice the value of Shakib’s deal. The fast bowler, who previously played in the Lanka Premier League, will also be making his first appearance in the UAE-based competition.
Mustafizur Rahman was signed by Dubai Capitals, replacing English pacer Luke Wood. The left-arm seamer joins the franchise owned by the IPL’s Delhi Capitals, with his inclusion confirmed by the team ahead of the auction.
Among the overseas picks, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik was also signed by Sharjah Warriors, but veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, listed at 120,000 US dollars, went unsold in a surprise outcome.
