Social enterprise DNet has appointed Professor Shah Md Ahsan Habib as chairperson of its governing body, effective from 1 January 2026, according to a press release.
A co-founder of DNet, Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management Professor (Selection Grade) Shah Md Ahsan Habib brings more than 29 years of experience in academia, policy research, governance and development finance.
He is widely recognised for his contributions to banking, inclusive finance, small and medium enterprise development and green banking, and is currently serving as a professor at the Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management.
Alongside his new role at D.Net, Independent Director Shah Md Ahsan Habib sits on the board of IPDC Finance and serves as a member of its Board Audit Committee and the Risk Management Committee.
His academic credentials include a doctorate earned in India and a post-doctoral fellowship on green banking at Syracuse University in the United States under the Senior Fulbright Scholarship.
Over his career, he has undertaken teaching, policy research and consultancy assignments with institutions such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, International Finance Corporation, United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Environment Programme, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit and the Department for International Development.
He is also a prolific author and columnist, with more than 250 research publications and over 250 newspaper articles on finance and development issues.

In addition, he is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh Banking Commission and a trustee of Valor of Bangladesh.
