Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has called on law enforcement agencies to adopt a more people-centric approach to strengthen public trust and ensure effective policing.
Shafiqur Rahman, also the lawmaker of Dhaka-15 constituency, made the remarks on Thursday while addressing a meeting with senior officials of law enforcement agencies.
He highlighted the critical role of the police and other agencies in protecting citizens’ lives and property and fostering a just society.
He also urged all political and social organisations to work collaboratively, regardless of party affiliation, for the sake of peace, law, and development.
At the meeting, lawmakers Mir Ahmad Bin Qasem of Dhaka-14 and Abdul Baten of Dhaka-16 stressed the need for coordinated efforts to prevent crime alongside ongoing development projects in their constituencies.
Law enforcement officials briefed attendees on ongoing special operations and awareness programs while seeking greater public cooperation.
Other participants included central executive council members of Jamaat-e-Islami, Dhaka North city Ameer Selim Uddin, Nayeb-e-Ameer Abdur Rahman Musa, and senior officials from law enforcement units in both constituencies.
The discussion also covered citizen safety, anti-drug and anti-terrorism measures, juvenile gang prevention, and initiatives to preserve social harmony.
MPs and officials highlighted field-level challenges and opportunities to improve law and order in Dhaka-14 and Dhaka-16.
