“Mithya samayik, kintu satya chirosthayi” — meaning “Falsehood is temporary, but truth is eternal” — a five-word Facebook post by popular actress Shabnoor has sparked fresh discussion on social media.
The actress shared the cryptic message on her verified Facebook page on Tuesday (18 August) without mentioning any person or incident.
However, the post has drawn particular attention amid renewed discussions surrounding the death of actor Salman Shah.
Questions and controversy surrounding his death have persisted for years, with Shabnur’s name also repeatedly coming up in connection with the case.
The actress has consistently denied allegations made against her.
As a result, many social media users have been speculating about the possible context of Shabnur’s latest post.
However, she has not indicated whether it was related to Salman Shah’s case or any other specific matter.
Meanwhile, fresh developments have emerged in the case concerning Salman Shah’s death.
Last week, police arrested actor Don Haque, one of the accused in the case, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
He was later produced before a court, which rejected his bail petition and ordered that he be sent to jail.
Following the hearing, state prosecutor Omar Faruk Faruki shared details of Don’s earlier statement with journalists.
According to the prosecutor, the statement mentioned the presence of Samira, Aziz Mohammad Bhai and several others at Salman Shah’s residence on the day of his death.
Faruki further claimed that Don’s statement included allegations that Salman Shah was rendered unconscious with chloroform, injected and later hanged from a ceiling fan after his death.
The prosecutor also said the statement mentioned that Don had taken the rope allegedly used in the incident to Salman’s residence, tied around his waist.
The circumstances surrounding Salman Shah’s death have remained the subject of longstanding debate, with fans and various groups repeatedly calling for a thorough investigation and disclosure of the truth.
Against this backdrop, Shabnur’s brief post has fuelled further speculation.
The actress, however, has offered no explanation about what prompted the post.
Shabnur and Salman Shah’s relationship was also widely discussed in the 1990s.
Rumours of a romantic relationship between the two circulated at the time, although Shabnoor has consistently said she regarded Salman as a brother.
Recently, Salman Shah’s mother, Neela Chowdhury, also supported Shabnoor’s statement, saying her son regarded the actress as a sister.
Salman Shah made his big-screen debut in Keyamat Theke Keyamat in 1993. He later appeared opposite Shabnur in Tumi Amar, which received a strong response from audiences.
In a career spanning only four years, Salman Shah acted in 27 films, 14 of which featured Shabnur as his co-star.
Their notable films include Sujon Sokhi, Bichar Hobe, Bikkhov, Swapner Thikana, Mohamilon, Tomake Chai, Swapner Prithibi, Jibon Songsar, Chawa Theke Pawa, Prem Piyasi, Swapner Nayok and Anondo Osru.
Most of the films featuring the pair went on to enjoy popularity and commercial success, cementing Salman Shah and Shabnoor as one of the most memorable on-screen pairs of Bangladeshi cinema.
