Veteran actor Shabana Azmi briefly sparked concern after she reportedly felt unwell while participating in a protest organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, reports India.com.
The 75-year-old actor had joined thousands of demonstrators during the CJP’s Chalo Sansad March.
The protesters demanded education and employment reforms, the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and action over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations, including NEET-UG.
According to reports, Azmi began feeling dizzy while moving with the crowd amid the capital’s heat and humidity.
Videos that quickly surfaced on social media showed volunteers and security personnel supporting the veteran actor as they escorted her away from the gathering.
In the viral clips, protesters can be seen requesting security officials to open a gate to allow Azmi to be moved safely through the crowd.
She was then taken to a nearby security cabin, where she was seated and allowed to rest until she recovered.
The incident prompted concern among fans, many of whom took to social media to wish the actor a speedy recovery while praising the volunteers for their quick response.
Before falling ill, Azmi had been actively participating in the demonstration, interacting with protesters and expressing solidarity with the movement.
She also shared photographs and videos from the protest on her social media accounts.
Joining her at the demonstration was actor Prakash Raj, with both stars seen sitting atop a truck alongside protesters as the march attempted to proceed toward Parliament.
Shabana Azmi has long been one of Indian cinema’s most outspoken public figures, frequently lending her voice to social, political and humanitarian causes.
Her participation in the CJP-led protest reflected her continued support for public advocacy beyond the screen.
There has been no official statement from Azmi or her representatives regarding her health, but reports indicate that she recovered after resting and was safely moved away from the protest site.
