Starlink internet connectivity is being introduced in many schools in the hilly regions of Khagrachhari, Bandarban and Rangamati to open a new horizon of digital education for students in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
To implement this initiative, Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL), Khagrachhari Hill District Council, Bandarban Hill District Council and Rangamati Hill District Council have signed three separate agreements. The information was announced in a press release on Tuesday.
Under these agreements, e-learning systems will be introduced step by step in primary and secondary schools across the three districts using Starlink internet.
As a result, students in remote hill areas will gain access to uninterrupted high-speed internet, enabling them to participate in online classes, access digital content and engage in virtual learning activities.
Despite geographical barriers, students in distant regions will be able to connect with mainstream education.
The release said the government has always been committed to improving education in the hill regions and expanding technology-based learning. These agreements mark the beginning of a new chapter in implementing that commitment.
On 27 November, BSCL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Dr Muhammad Emadur Rahman and Bandarban Hill District Council Chairman Professor Thanjama Lusai signed one of the agreements on behalf of their organisations at the Bandarban Hill District Council office.
Earlier, on 12 November, BSCL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Emadur Rahman and Rangamati Hill District Council Chairman Agriculturist Kajol Talukder signed another agreement at the Rangamati Hill District Council office.
On 11 November, a similar agreement was signed at the Khagrachhari Circuit House by BSCL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Emadur Rahman and Khagrachhari Hill District Council Chairman Shefalika Tripura.
Through these agreements, Starlink connectivity is now being installed in various schools.
The signing ceremonies were attended by BSCL General Manager (Sales and Marketing) Shah Ahmedul Kabir, Senior Manager Hamid Hasan Muhammad Mohiuddin, district council officials and relevant engineers.
BSCL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Emadur Rahman said the agreements open a new door of possibilities for education in the hill regions.
