Seven more children have died from measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths linked to measles and related symptoms to 766 since 15 March, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest deaths were reported between 8am on Monday and 8am on Tuesday, the DGHS said in its daily measles situation report released on Tuesday.
The health directorate also reported that 990 new people developed symptoms consistent with measles during the same period.
The latest figures come a day after the DGHS reported one death from measles-like symptoms in the previous 24 hours.
During that period, 113 new measles cases were detected, while 896 people showed symptoms associated with the disease.
Health authorities have been closely monitoring the spread of measles and related complications as cases continue to be reported across the country.
