The Supreme Court has decided that lower court judges will now take their one-month December vacation in two separate phases.
Under the new arrangement, judges of subordinate courts will take 15 days of leave in the first half of June and the remaining 15 days in the second half of December.
The decision was taken during a full court meeting held at the Supreme Court Judges’ Lounge on Monday, and it will come into effect this year, according to reliable sources.
The meeting was chaired by the Chief Justice and attended by judges of the High Court Division.
The full court also approved the posting of 46 judicial officers to the Supreme Court Secretariat, with six officers already assigned.
It was decided that the Secretariat’s operations will be conducted from the second, third and fourth floors of the Supreme Court record building.
The move is expected to help maintain court operations and case management more efficiently throughout the year.
