Pakistan bounced back well in the second session of day three in the first Test against Bangladesh at Mirpur after a difficult morning.
After losing four wickets in the first session, Pakistan responded through Salman Ali Agha and Mohammad Rizwan.
The pair added 119 runs for the sixth wicket and helped Pakistan cut Bangladesh’s first innings lead to just 64 runs.
Rain then stopped play with Pakistan on 349 for 6, forcing an early tea break.
Bangladesh finally broke the stand late in the session. Salman went after Taijul Islam but only managed to find Mahmudul Hasan Joy at mid off. He fell after an important half century.
Soon after his wicket, rain arrived and covers came on at the Sher e Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Salman had earlier survived a huge scare before opening his account.
He was caught by Litton Das off Taskin Ahmed on zero, but the wicket was cancelled because Taskin had bowled a no ball.
Bangladesh had dominated the morning session after resuming Pakistan’s innings from 179 for 1.
Taskin removed debut centurion Azan Awais and captain Shan Masood.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz then struck key blows by dismissing Saud Shakeel and debutant Abdullah Fazal.
Pakistan were 251 for 5 at lunch, but the strong stand between Salman and Rizwan shifted the momentum back before rain interrupted play.
