SAJIDA Foundation and CBM Global Disability Inclusion are providing free eye examinations, consultations, spectacles, and surgical facilities for the local residents of Sirajganj Sadar and Tarash Upazilas.
A two-day field visit commenced on Monday to monitor the ongoing project activities and facilitate exchange of views with the local community.
The visiting delegation included SAJIDA Foundation officials Firoz Ahmed and ASM Rabbani, along with other relevant officials and foreign representatives.
During the visit, the team observed various community-based initiatives, including courtyard sessions dedicated to mental health. These sessions were designed to increase public awareness and eradicate prevailing social superstitions and misconceptions regarding mental health.
Participants received essential advice on maintaining the mental well-being of both themselves and their family members.
In addition to mental health initiatives, eye health camps were organised where locals received free eye tests, medical consultations, and spectacles.
Facilities for various eye-related surgeries are also being provided under this scheme.
The field visit further included awareness programmes on disaster management, specifically educating locals on necessary precautions during lightning strikes and other natural calamities. The sessions provided concepts on essential preparations required to tackle such risks.
According to project officials, the primary objectives of this initiative are to enhance the capacity of people living in disaster-prone areas, make healthcare services easily accessible, and ensure the rights and participation of persons with disabilities. The ultimate goal is to build an inclusive and resilient society
