From Shwet Patharer Thala to Feluda, Sabyasachi Chakraborty has consistently stood out as one of Bengali cinema’s most distinctive actors.
Despite spending decades in the industry, the veteran actor has rarely been associated with romantic relationships or rumours of extramarital affairs.
So, why has Sabyasachi always kept himself away from romantic relationships?
The actor recently addressed the question in an interview with Adda GB.
Asked why no romantic relationship involving him had ever come to light, Sabyasachi said, “Who says I have never fallen in love? I have fallen in love many times.”
He explained that his love has always been directed towards nature, wildlife and cinema rather than romantic relationships.
“I have fallen in love with nature. I have fallen in love with wildlife. I have fallen in love with the camera, but I have never fallen in love with any woman,” he said.
According to Sabyasachi, he prefers to avoid complicated relationships with people.
“People can be very frightening. You never know what someone might do. It is better not to have relationships with people. When I am already in a relationship, there is no need to have another relationship with anyone else. I only want to think about my family and stay with them,” he said.
The actor was also asked how he would like to be remembered by audiences.
His response was characteristically straightforward.
“I don’t want anyone to remember me at all. Why would anyone remember me? Who remembers whom?” he said.
He questioned whether people even remember who received the first Nobel Prize or who made various historic achievements, adding that he therefore saw no reason why anyone should remember him.
“I don’t want anyone to remember me,” he said.
Sabyasachi, who has enjoyed a long and acclaimed career in Bengali cinema and television, recently made his web-series debut.
His first web series, Advocate Achintya Aich Season 3, premiered on Hoichoi on Friday (7 August).
Directed by Joydeep Mukherjee, the legal thriller features Sabyasachi as Digbijoy Singh, a skilled yet complex lawyer.
