Former reserved‑seat lawmaker Sabina Akter Tuhin has been shown arrested in a case filed with Mirpur Model Police Station on charges of attempted murder.
The court also ordered Rokeya Jamal, president of the Mohila League’s Kafrul unit, to be shown arrested in a murder case.
On Monday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam passed the orders after hearing two separate petitions.
Both Sabina Akter and Rokeya were produced before the court.
State counsel Shamsuddoha Sumon argued in favor of their arrests, while defense lawyer Morshed Hossain Shahin opposed and sought bail for both accused.
According to one of the petitions, during the anti‑discrimination student movement, complainant Milon Panna was shot in front of Mirpur 14 Ideal School and College. Following the incident, a case was filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 400–500 unidentified people. Sabina Akter has now been shown arrested as a suspect in that case.
According to another petition, Md Shakil was shot during the July uprising at Mirpur 10 and later died while undergoing treatment. In that incident, Shakil’s father filed a case against the main accused and 300 unidentified people. Rokeya Jamal has been shown arrested as a suspect in that case.
