Chattogram Royals cruised to a big win over Dhaka Capitals with a ten wicket victory. They chased the target in only 12.4 overs and never looked under pressure. Naim Sheikh stayed unbeaten on 54 from 40 balls. Adam Rossington remained not out on 60 from 36 balls to finish the match in style.
The easy chase showed how one sided the game was. Dhaka Capitals once again failed to deliver with the bat despite having a strong squad. The ninth match of the season was played at the Sylhet International Stadium. Chattogram captain Mahedi Hasan won the toss and chose to field first.
Dhaka lost wickets early and could not recover. Saif Hassan was dismissed in the first over. He is still searching for form in this BPL. Afghan opener Zubaid Akbari struggled and scored only 2 runs from 12 balls. The pressure kept building on Dhaka from that point.
Usman Khan showed some intent and made 21 off 15 balls with three fours. His innings ended with a stumping by Adam Rossington. Rossington later completed three more stumpings in the match. It was a historic feat as no wicketkeeper had ever completed four stumpings in a single BPL game before.
The rest of the batting also failed. Mohammad Mithun, Shamim Hossain Patwary, Sabbir Rahman and Imad Wasim were all out for single digit scores. Sabbir could not settle after coming in at number six. Nasir Hossain batted at number eight and scored 17 from 20 balls. Mohammad Saifuddin added some value at number nine with 33 from 25 balls.
Dhaka Capitals were bowled out for 122 with two balls left. Tanvir Islam was excellent for Chattogram and gave away only 8 runs while taking three wickets. Shariful Islam also claimed three wickets for just 18 runs. Captain Mahedi Hasan picked up two wickets to wrap up a dominant bowling effort.
