Mejbaur Rahman Sumon’s upcoming film ‘Roid’ has begun its promotional rollout with the release of its first song, as the film moves towards a nationwide cinema release during Eid-ul-Adha.
The song, titled ‘Roide Aila Ga Juraite’, was announced at a programme held at the Facecard Production office in Niketan, Dhaka, where the film’s release plans were also formally confirmed.
The track has been written, composed and performed by Rajib Ahmed Raju, with music direction, mixing and mastering handled by Rashid Sharif Shoaib. Audio production was completed by Studio Cowbell.
Speaking about the film, director Mejbaur Rahman Sumon described Roid as a story centred on the complex relationship between a saint and his wife, exploring themes of love, silence and human emotion. He said the film aims to offer a deeply reflective narrative for audiences in cinemas this Eid.
Raju said the song was developed in a unique creative process, based on the director’s ideas rather than a conventional storyline, and was shaped over nearly two years.
Actress Nazifa Tushi, who plays a key role in the film, said the project involved extensive preparation, including location development in Sylhet, and described the experience as emotionally significant for the cast and crew.
Roid was previously selected for the Tiger Competition section at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, marking its presence on the international festival circuit before its domestic release.
The film is a joint production of Bangladeshi streaming and production platform Bongo and Facecard Productions, and is scheduled for release in cinemas nationwide during Eid-ul-Adha.
