India posted 264/9 in their 50 overs against Australia in the second ODI in Adelaide on Thursday.

Asked to bat first, India got a steady start through Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer. Rohit played a calm and confident knock of 73 runs from 97 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes. Iyer supported him well with 61 runs off 77 balls, which included seven boundaries.

Virat Kohli, returning to the side, was dismissed for a golden duck. Axar Patel added 44 important runs in the middle order. Towards the end, Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh stitched a valuable 37-run partnership for the ninth wicket. Their late fight helped India reach a competitive total.

For Australia, Adam Zampa was the standout bowler, taking four wickets for 60 runs. Xavier Bartlett impressed again with three wickets for 39 runs, including the key dismissal of Kohli. Mitchell Starc chipped in with two wickets.

India finished their innings on 264 for nine, setting up a challenging chase for the hosts.
